DescriptionBundle includes:
a) Two copies of printed pamphlet The North Wales Quarrymen's Union The Slate Trade Correspondence and report by the president W.J. Parry, July 1884
b) Envelope of correspondence from Lord Penrhyn to George Sholto Douglas Pennant relating to quarry expenses, deficits in the quarry, the Pennant Lloyd agreement, Arthur Wyatt etc. Also includes notes done in the hand of George Sholto quoting extracts from the letters, 1881
c) Letter to Pennant Lloyd requesting building land in Bethesda following an increase in the number of men employed at the quarry. Notes by Lord Penrhyn suggest that this may be in the hand of W.J. Parry although he is not a signatory, 24 March 1876
d) Envelope containing printed extracts from the Nottingham Daily Guardian. One is a letter of support for Lord Penrhyn, and also 6 copies of a letter from Guy Dart entitled 'Capital and Labour', 1893
e) Translation of an article published in Y Genedl entitled "Comforts of the Quarrymen", 7th October 1892
f) Letter from Daniel Hughes, Bangor showing support for Lord Penrhyn, 23 July 1895
g) Letter from Sir William Thomas Lewis (1st Baron Merthyr) thanking Lord Penrhyn for his telegram of congratulations and stating that "the men have gone back on worse terms than they came out", 16 September 1898
h) Communication from W.W. Vivian (Dinorwic), Norman Davies (Dorothea) Lewis (Welsh Slate Company), Alexandra Slate Company, John H. Greaves & Son, Oakeley Slate Quarries Company, & Dunlop & Co regarding a managers meeting to discuss slate prices, Dec 1886
i) Envelope of documents relating to quarry wages including accounts, bundle of telegrams to W.J. Parry giving average wages for various quarries in the region. Includes few pages from and attributed to letter relating to the Union (possibly by W.J. Parry?), 1874
