TitleSeries of transactions embodied in six documents, relating to the messuage of Treaseth of the same township, in commote Menai, which was part of the dower-land of Agnes Vechan, wife of the first John Griffith of Chwaen Hên [the family later associated with Llanddyfnan]
DescriptionAgnes demises the premises for her natural lite to Thomas Wyn ap W. ap W. of co. Carnarvon [a description that exactly fits Thomas Williams of Vaynol, father of the first Sir William]; then follow releases between him and John Griffith the second; then one must remember a lease of the premises (10 May 1534) granted by the first J.G. to Richard Meyrick of Bodorgan ["Bodorging"], to take effect at the death of Agnes and thenceforward for a term of 41 years. The last document in the series records an assignment of this lease by R.M. to Dr Rowland Thomas, Dean of Bangor (29 Octr.,1574); a further assignment by the Dean's nephew to Sir Richard Bulkeley (31 Oct., 1590); and the latest assignment from Sir Richard to Rowland Owen ap Jenkyn of Ucheldre (8 March, 1591-2). This last transaction carried a consideration of £60, a pretty large sum to pay in face of the fact that the original lease was nearly run out
