There is a temptation to think that "your lordship" was the Viscount Bulkeley; but, however deeply committed he was to the Royal cause and fully trusted as a staunch supporter of great influence, he was never in the position envisaged in this document. The curious thing is that his name is absent from the list of attestations; the one representative of the family is Rowland Bulkeley of Porthamel (and the Bulkeleys of Porthamel were by 1645 very distant cousins indeed) |
