| Description | Their double message is that Sir William was not averse to feminine companionship. He may have been Sir William Yonge, M.P. for Honiton, at one time a Commissioner of the Treasury; if so, he was grandson to Sir Robert Williams of Penrhyn, and himself Custos Rotulorum for co. Caernarvon, also drawing a moiety of the Penrhyn-Cochwillan rentals. A person bearing his name was rather deeply involved in the "South Sea" scandals (doct. 6798). He may not have been the same person, as the body of these papers do not refer to matters beyond 1721, while Sir William's father did not die before 1731, he himself entering Parliament in 1722 |
