AdminHistory | The Independent Order of Oddfellows is a fraternal organisation which evolved from the medieval trade guilds in the City of London during the 17th century, with branches throughout the UK and worldwide. The name Oddfellows was originally used to describe a society that accepted members from different trades and walks of life who came together to provide mutual aid.
The district division of the Independent Order of Oddfellows based at Pwllheli in Gwynedd, (formerly Caernarfonshire) north Wales passed a resolution in 1843 providing for the transfer of the organisation's headquarters to nearby Caernarfon. |
