The book has been interleaved with larger sheets of paper, probably in the 18th. century, on some of which are notes on mariners' wages; cases in marine law; copy affidavits to obtain a chief mate's protection; copy form of an "Award of Salvage"; copy assignment of a policy of insurance; etc. Other name in a variety of hands, occurring on the actuel pages of text, include George Middleton: Thomas Williams; Thos. Welmett; Hugh Parry; Richard Parry (Recorder of Pwllhely); Robert Cobreth and William Gossage, all between 1663 and 1696. The text itself (pp.17 to 253 and introduction survive) is much stained. Blank pages are numbered 1 to 16, intended perhaps to carry a ms. copy of the missing part. |
