TeitlCopy probate (dated 1 December 1770) of the will (dated 16 September 1768) of Barnara Whalley of the town of Northampton, widow.
DisgrifiadTestatrix bequeaths the advowson of the Rectory of Ecton with all its lands and tithes to her grandson John Palmer Whalley and to his first or other sons "in tail male" subject to the life interest of her son Palmer Whalley "the present incumbent". She leaves £5000 each to her daughters Barbara, Ann and Sarah together with an annuity of £25 a piece, chargable upon her real estate (apart from the advowson). She also bequeaths £30 each to her daughters "for Mourning". She leaves the remainder of her personal estate and all her real estate (apart from the advowson) to her son Palmer Whalley whom she also names as her executor.
Codicil appended (dated 16 September 1768). Testatrix bequeaths the remainder of the term of her lease of a house in Abingdon Street, Northampton to her daughters Barbara, Ann and Sarah "to be divided between them share and share alike". She also leaves 5 guineas to Mrs. Mary Ward of Little Houghton to buy a ring; 10 guineas to William Oastler; £50 to Ann Prottor and £5 to the poor of Ecton. She leaves her household goods, furniture, horses, coach, plate, linen, china, her gold repeating watch, an enamelled picture set in gold of her brother John Palmer, pictures of her mother Ann Palmer and of herself, her gold snuff box jewels rings and apparel and all the rest of her personal estate (apart from her oil paintings which she leaves to her son) to her daughters Barbara, Ann and Sarah Whalley "to be divided between them share and share alike"
