TeitlLetter from Richard Hughes to Mrs. Ann Owen at Penrhos
DisgrifiadReceived her letter by the bearer, Robert Owen, in which she says that the writer promised to return to her £280. Wrote her an answer to say that it was not convenient for him to do so as he had five or six hundred pounds of his master's money in his hands, and that if she sent such a sum and run the risk and pay the charges to Salop or Chester he would take it, provided they were sent to him by Tuesday last. Since his head servant died and he has not the convenience of sending the money to Chester or Salop on his own cost and charges, he does not think it reasonable that he should give his bill for £297.7.6 and to make himself liable to answer this money to Madam Barlow in London. Moreover, as he does not deal in either cattle, sheep or hogs. Mrs. Owen must excuse him.
