TeitlLetter from Humphrey Humphreys to his sister-in-law, Margaret Wynn
DisgrifiadIs surprised and 'thunderstruck' by her unkind proposal to withdraw her care and protection from him and his little girls, and her laying the cause of it on him and insinuating that he had no mind she should govern his house is the height of cruelty. Protests his love for her and demands to know whether she will continue her love for him and his children as she has hitherto done. But to put some bounds to his pen, though he can at present set none to his thoughts, he will reduce what he has to say to (1) his fears (2) his desires and (3) his promises. Begs of her never to admit the thought of leaving him or withdrawing or lessening her care and government of his family.
