TitleLetter from Ambrose Lewis at Llan-Rudd (Llanrhydd) to John Owen of Penrhos
DescriptionWas affectionately desirous to see Owen this Easter, but is prevented by a sudden visitation in the way. Has given cousin Roberts of 'Cayre' a description of his condition, which Roberts will communicate to Owen. Desires Owen to give the writer's sister-in-law's relations a meeting to settle affairs between his sister-in-law and the children. Has taken two able lawyers' advice upon the settlement of the writer's brother's marriage and they conceive that Mr. William Lewis and Mr. Morris Lewis will be forced in equity to provide the payment of the £400. Gives further details. Would have Owen consult with the letter he has written to cousin Roberts. Cousin Bold is very healthful and much improved in his discourse since Owen saw him, though the writer cannot as yet prevail with him to apply his understanding to his reading. All are in health at Wrexham.

Dorse : no date (copy of Ambrose Lewis's letter to (?) 'Cousin Roberts of Cayre') Though he is forced to write with the bak end of the pen, yet he begs him bear with him. Was much affected with the sense of the dispensation his cousin was under when he wrote the letter to the writer upon the death of the latter's dear brother. Is sorry for his cousin's visitation in his son. Has been much concerned at the Throne of Grace for his cousin's daughter. When the branches are shaken the root is tried. The Lord sanctify his visitation to him and his Lady. The writer in his present condition applies the 102 Psalm to himself, which he desires his cousin seriously to peruse, especially verse 23.
