TeitlAccount books detailing the expenses incurred in the county election
DisgrifiadThe first of these books gives particulars of the sums due to individual tradesmen, inn-keepers, etc. for the entertainment of the electors. Many of the sums charged are patently extortionate - a fact which does not escape the scrutinisers of the accounts. The second book itemises the actual disbursements made by Hugh Price, the election agent, to the creditors. These amount to £8373.8.0. - a not inconsiderable sum, but a pittance compared with that expended on junketting and entertainment generally during the 1832 election in the Caernarvon boroughs
Dyddiad1784
AdminHistoryThe succesful candidate was Nicholas Bayly of Plas Newydd, who defeated Owen Putland Meyrick of Bodorgan - see Williams : Party History of the Principality of Wales p.7)
