TeitlCounty Election of 1796 (Sir Robert Williams, Bt., 690, Lord Penrhyn, 370)
Letter from O.A. Poole to Lord Uxbridge
DisgrifiadReferring to a recent visit paid by the Bishop of Bangor )John Warren) to Lord Newborough, obviously "for no other purpose than that of canvassing". The rest of the letter dwells at length upon the connection between the Tewkesbury (Gloucestershire) election and the Caernarvonshire contest, introducing one Mr Moore, who is state to have acquired considerable landed property in Caernarvonshire, and to be directing Lord Newborough's conduct in the county election. It therefore behoves Plas Newydd party to have counterplans ready, and in particular to gain the support of John Griffith of Garreglwyd, who has considerable interests in Tewkesbury.
