TitleCorrespondence of W.P. Poole of Pencraig
DescriptionThese papers reveal the steps which led to Poole's dismissal. His defalcations, Sanderson estimates, amounted to close on £2,000 (2773) and William Lowe, the Marquess' London law agent, is instructed to take steps to recover the debt. Poole, however, is shown every consideration in the matter of repayment, but his ruin appears to be complete, and all the more so in June 1830, for with the abolition of the Great Session she stands to lose the twin posts of Registrar and Marshal of that Court (2778)
Date1823-1830
AdminHistoryW.P. Poole was appointed receiver of the Marquess' Welsh estate in 1823. His term of office was destined to be brief. He was dismissed in December 1829 on the grounds of gross inattention to the interests of the estate, irregularity in the presentation of the rent accounts and inefficiency generally.
