TitleMarriage settlement of William Bulkeley the younger and Alice, daughter of Bartholomew Bold, esquire
DescriptionConsiderable space to the marriage portion and specified days of its payment; very little about the enfeoffments of particular lands. But Bartholomew Bold[e] insisted with great effect that the younger William should in good time and with full legal assurance inherit the lands of William B. his father, and the land now held in jointure by Margaret Maynwaryng, second wife of Richard, father of William B. the elder [this is a detail of the family connections completely ignored by J.E. Griffith in his Pedigrees, but pretty clearly given in Ormerod: Hist. Cheshire III, 627]; she was daughter of Hugh de Venables of Kynderton, and had married as second husband Randle Maynwaryng of Pever; unfortunately, Ormerod has never a word to say about this very important marriage of W.B. the younger to Alice Bold, and his accession to the numerous interests which her father had bought in Arllechwedd Isaf. Bartholomew himself is said to be the son of Thomas de Bolde who had married Lettice, daughter of John Pykins of Conway [and/or] Caernarvon
