| Description | Fourteen papers relating to the indebtedness of Sarah, Dowager Viscountess Bulkeley, widow of Robert [second] Viscount Bulkeley, to Sir William Williams of Vaynol [the second] who was married to her daughter Ellen, but whether the debt arose out of the marriage settlement is not made clear. The baronet of Vaynol died soon after the effort was made to assign the Dowager's own jointure as security for the debt (17 & 18 Sept., 1695). New trouble arose because of the attitude of the executors of Sir William's last will, especially of a lawyer named Charles Allanson. These papers illustrate how the case went merrily on before the Lord Keeper from 1704 to 1708 |
