DescriptionIndenture pursuant to an award by Thomas, Viscount Savage, and Sir William Jones, Justice of the King's Bench, upon the numerous points at variance between the descendants of Sir Richard B. [the third knight] by his first marriage and those by his second; in other words, between the Bulkeleys of Cheshire and the Bulkeleys of Beaumaris; more exactly, between one grandson named Richard Bulkeley, esq. and another of a similar name and designation. Richard B. of Cheshire was awarded the manors of Whatcroft, Chedle and Timperley in Cheshire for his life; after his death, to his wife Dorothy, for the term of her life, in name of jointure and in lieu of dower; after her death, to the use of the heirs male of her husband, R.B.; in default of such, to the heirs male of R.B.'s father; in default of such, to the heirs male of Richard B. of Beaumaris, &c. This document has been written on very poor paper with the result that it is kept firm on the dorse by a fragment of a Survey of Duchy of Lancaster's lands
