| Description | Early history, favour of Friars to Glyndwr, reorganisation by Henry V, dissolution, and grant to Elis Wynne in 1563. Who was this Wynne? The Whytes of Friars are said to have purchased the property from him (Pedigrees, 130). These papers are not dated 1563; rather they are modern transcripts from old documents. In the same group is a cutting from the Carnarvon and Denbigh Herald (Sept. 17, 1867), giving a particularly interesting summary of the early history, and which contains the rather daring suggestion that Elis Wynne was no other than the founder of the Whyte family |
