Alt Ref NoBHILL/1480
TitleIndenture
Descriptionbetween Rice Gwynn the elder of Fakenham, co. Norfolk, cousin and next heir of Dr Thomas Gwynn, chancellor of the diocese of Llandaff, deceased (one part) and Dr Justinian Lewyn of Higham near Norwich, and Thomas Gwynn of Fakenham, son of the said Rice Gwynn; R.G. grants to Dr Lewyn, his son-in-law, and to Thomas his son, the five gwelys at Aberalaw, the mill and other messuages previously sold to Dr Thomas Gwynn by Dr William Griffith of Carreglwyd and his brothers.

This Fakenham offshoot of the family of Bodychen seems to have escaped the notice of J.E. Griffith (Pedigrees, 98-99); he ascribes the acquisition of the Norfolk estate to Rhys, eldest brother of Dr Thomas Gwynn. Of Dr Justinian Lewyn and his offices, there is a good deal in Foster: Alumni Oxon., 1500-1714, p.905
