TitleIndenture between Rowland Bulkeley of Porthamel and Alice his wife (one party) and William Lewis of Presaddfed (the other); arrangement to levy a fine at Great Sessions in order that 70 messuages, two mills, 3,000 acres of arable, &c., be delivered to four gentlemen in trust for the purposes [not specified in this document] named in a previous indenture between the parties (4 Jan., 1576-7)
DescriptionHe was the first Rowland Bulkeley of Porthamel; his wife Alice was the daughter of John Conway of Bodrhyddan, co. Flint. It is rather probable this transaction had to do with the marriage settlement of Margaret, daughter of William Lewis with Richard, son of Rowland Bulkeley; this probability is strengthened by the fact that two of the other gentlemen implementing the fine had married daughters of William Lewis
