There is one very interesting point to note about John Jones: he became the father, by his wife Ann Wynn, heiress of Penhesgin by Llansadwrn, of Robert Jones, rector of Llandwrog during the Commonwealth. The austere Puritan Commissioners for the Propagation of the Gospel turned him out of the living, but he was one of the very very few clerics who appealed against the ejection, and appealed successfully. There was a cogent reason: was he not full cousin te Griffith Jones of Castellmarch, probably the most powerful and influential man in Carnarvonshire during the interregnum? |
