TitleIndenture between Thomas James, Viscount Bulkeley, and James Bandinel of Jesus College, Oxford grant of an annuity of £150, charged upon the manor of Aber, to J.B. "in consideration of the trouble, care, and attention the said James Bandinel hath heretofore had taken and used in and towards the instruction and tuition of the said Thomas James"
DescriptionBandinel was Charles I Fellow of Jesus from 1754 to 1776, Public Orator, and first Bampton Lecturer. The great friendship and intimacy between him and the Bulkeley family is illustrated by the name of his son, Bulkeley Bandinel, one of the ablest and most energetic of Bodley librarians (Hardy: Jesus College, 169-170). Not only was there an annuity of £150 to J.B. during the term of his life, but "a further annuity of £50 for the life of Miss Dumaresque in case she shall be married to Mr Bandinel and shall survive him"
