Description | Tthis abstract is more than usually interesting, because it brings in the rich attorney of Beaumaris, Owen Hughes Yr Arain Mawr; by his will he bequeathed lands in Anglesey and Caernarvon to the five sons of Lloyd Bodvell of Bodfan in Llandwrog, who had married Ann, niece to Owen Hughes [Lloyd Bodvell, it is well to remember, was the fourth Viscount's inveterate enemy over the political vendetta of 1708-1715, and was supported by the powerful money-bags of Owen Hughes, his wife's uncle]. In 1758 one of the sons and eventually the most prosperous, William Bodvell, decided to sell a considerable portion of the above lands, comprising much property in Beaumaris, Llangoed and Penmon, which was bought by Emma, Vicountess Bulkeley. This abstract was supplied to counsel names J. Spranger, in order to clear up certain difficulties and [according to the dorse] "to advise on the Title on behalf of an intended mortgagee". His advice was given March 14, 1777 |
