Accompanying the latter is a record of previous disbursements from April, 1688, to 20 February, 1688-1689 (4725). Probably the most interesting item (date not very certain, but 1688-1689) which is worded as follows: "A horse to a gentleman and another to his Guide that brought your Honour word that the gentlewoman att Chedle was Dead [paid] 5/10". The gentlewoman undoubtedly Frances Bulkeley of Cheadle, by whose death the Cheshire lands reverted once more to the Bulkeleys of Beaumaris. |
