TitleRentals (two books) of the Welsh estate of Sir George Warren of Poynton in Cheshire [father-in-law of Thomas James Warren Bulkeley, seventh Viscount]
DescriptionIn co. Carnarvon only his lands lay in the parishes of Penmorfa, Llanfihangel y Pennant, Dolbenmaen, Criccieth, Treflys, Llanaelhaiarn, and Llanllyfni; in Merioneth, in the parish of Ffestiniog only - where the main tenemements were Bryn Cyforgyd, sofl y Mynydd, Eryn Llech, Cae Du and Gelli; four partners also worked a quarry at an annual rent of £17.17.0.
It is not at all clear how Sir George derived his title to these interests in Wales; it may be pointed out that his mother was a daughter of George, Earl of Cholmondeley, and that his first wife was a daughter of Thomas Revel of Surrey, possibly a descendant of the Revels of Llwyndryrus in Carnarvonshire (Ormerod: "Hist.Cheshire, III, 687"). Cholomondeleys inherited part of the old Bodevel estates ("Pedigrees, 171)
