TitleEighty-three letters to Sir Robert Williams all in 1801
DescriptionThe main interests are the news of the death of Sir George Warren of Poynton, father-in-law of Lord Bulkeley, and a new accession of property and wealth to Baron Hill; the death of Sir Robert's sister Anne; and the birth of a son and heir to Sir Robert, the later Sir Richard Williams-Bulkeley. Many letters from O.A. Poole, the agent for the Carnarvonshire estates, and from Edward Hughes, his father-in-law: the latter (May 23, 1801) has heard flattering news of Sir Robert's Snowdon Mines, and is able to cap them with news of a discovery at Mynydd Parys, from which he himself was to derive such great wealth. A good deal of talk about a projected bridge over the Menai Straits (15 Octr., and 28 Novr.); informing circulars from the London Corn Exchange (24 Aug., and 23 Novr.). Special summons signed by his own hand, from "Henry Addington", that Sir Robert should be in his place in the House when papers on the Peace with France were laid on the table (Octr. 9)
