AdminHistory | Reverend Robert Owen (1820 - 1902), Anglo Catholic cleric and author, was the third son of David Owen of Dolgellau, north Wales. He commenced his studies in divinity at Jesus College, Oxford in 1838 and graduated in 1842. He was Fellow from 1845-64, held various college offices including examiner in law and history. Bishop Bethell of Bangor ordained him in 1843. His published works include An Apology for the High Church Movement on Liberal Principles (1851), A Pilgrimage to Rome (1863) and The Kymry, their Origin, History and International Relations (1891). He lived for many years at Vron-y-graig, Barmouth where he died in 1902. |
