| Description | Including correspondence (Messrs. Robotham of Chester tuners; Messrs. Johnson of Rugeley, hauliers; L. & N.W.R. re overcharge for carriage; Messrs. Johnson of Rugeley, hauliers; L. & N.W.R. re overcharge for carriage; Messrs. Sherratt & Co. of Chester, antique dealers; etc); etc. The "orchestrion"was apparently placed on the premises of a Mr. Thomas, cabinet-maker, Eastgate street, Chester for sale. The estimated auction-price was only £100, although in Sherratts' view it must have cost £600 to make. It was decided to move it to Beaudesert for the sale there, but a high carriage-account resulted in this welter of correspondence. |
