DescriptionBethesda: Hugh H. Jones, Coetmor Mount, went shopping in the High Street at 8pm on Saturday night and entered premises from the back so as not to be seen by the people outside. On leaving he was attcked and kicked by a large crowd which followed him to the CafĂȘ (gwaelod Allt Caffi). He took refuge in the house of William Roberts, Quarry View, where Constable Pugh was lodging. He was subsequently escorted home.

Lewis E. Hughes, Upper Hill Street, Gerlan, stated that he came home from Bangor on the 9.30 train where he was met by a crowd of (he estimated) 400 outside the station, who verbally abused him and followed him up the High Street, throwing stones. He was escorted up the High Street by the Superintendant. He noticed about 12 policemen on the High Street, but the crows still followed. On reaching Gerlan, the Constable there escorted him home.
