We learn that Bason has been elected Chairman of the Gas Committee for this year (26 April 1940).
At Llanuwchlyn Bason hears that the King of Belgium has surrendered (28 May 1940). When the Station Master declares that Britain might as well give up and give in to Hitler, Bason replies, "No, never".
Many entries contain Bason's worries about the war (June 1940), regarding Germany's drive against France and the hope of turning to God.
Bason is still regularly travelling to London for Sectional Council Work (6 Dec 1940). Here he describes the London houses damaged by the bombings.
After attending the Evening Service at church, Bason is disappointed with the lack of comfort, consolation and hope that was provided in the sermon for the evacuees (23 March 1941).
Pleased with Winton Churchill's speech, "made me feel that we will win through" (27 April 1941).
