DescriptionBason's care for his wife Ellen is a reoccurring theme. At the end of the diary is a newspaper cutting of a story and piece of paper containing the address of the British Railway Savings Bank.
Bason describes how Ellen told him she thinks the end is drawing near. He then had a talk with her about their spiritual bond and their fellowship in God that will continue (16 April 1966).
Ellen passes away in her sleep with Bason by her side (16 May 1966).
Entries of days sat on the seat outside, looking up towards the hills, thinking of Ellen his wife (May-June 1966).
After hearing about the Aberfan tragedy; "I did not sleep very well" (22 Oct 1966).
