Description | This school seems to have had a very chequered history: the Report of the Commissioners of 1847, (Llyfrau Gleision), iii. 11-12, tells a terrible story (given by the Vicar) how the last Master and Mistress, when compelled to quit the house, burned the school furniture and broke several windows (a fact corroborated by the visit of one of the Asst. Commissioners). The Diocesan Inspector's Report for 1864 is a little better (p. 27) but not very much. The Inspector was not sure of the schoolmaster's full name - Thomas William Aubrey, one of the Vicar's confidants (see 71, endorsement). |
