TitleIndenture of settlement of the Pentir Estate
DescriptionHugh Williams conveys his property to two feofees in trust, William Williams of Penrallt [Bangor?] and Hugh Davies of Caerhun; lands comprised the Plas Pentir nucleus, Cae Cethin in Dinorwic, Ashley House in Caernarvon; other interests in Caernarvon were Forth Mawr, Penrallt near Twthill, messuages in Stryd y Llyn, Tyddyn Fletcher and Cae Rhos, Cae Hampton, Tyddyn Bothe, Cae Bach alias Horse Poolhe (sic.), and several rents issuing from Bangor Street and "the Vicar's Street." Outstanding in interest amongst this catalogue is the fact that the tenants of Porth Mawr were William Prichard, gentleman, and Ann Williams, widow, that is, W.P., father of the elder John Prichard of Dinam, his wife Catherine, and Ann W., his mother-in-law, the same persons that figured in the marriage settlement of 1726 (Mss DIN/31-32). W.P. also held Cae Hampton. One of the witnesses was Lucy Stodart of Deganw[y], no doubt sister to Ellen Stodart, wife of Hugh Williams of Plas Pentir, both of them amongst the last to bear the name of once numerous Stodart family.
