DescriptionHe makes two trips to Abergele, first from 14 July to 8 August, and then from 20 to 30 September, in order to paint a scene of the River Elwy at Llanfair Talhaearn. Much local description, and accounts of meetings with Robert William Wynne at Garthewin and elsewhere.

30 December, full page account of The Times' report of an assault on Robert Wynne by a burglar at Garthewin. After being hit, and the man having entered the house, Robert Wynne "barricaded himself in his bedroom & let himself drop from the bedroom window. Rushed to the Housekeeper's Lodge. He went to the Police, who telegraphed to Abergele. The policeman came on a cycle & caught the man at Abergele with Robert's money in his Pockets".
