Description | The original lease was granted by John ap Griffith to Meredydd ap Thomas ap Meredydd of Porthamel, on 4th January 1532-1533. He was a well-known squire of Anglesey, and the subject of several bardic panegyrics and elegies (see especially Penrhos Ms 1573); it was his grand-daughter Elin who brought the Porthamel lands by marriage to a younger branch of the Bulkeleys of Baron Hill ("Pedigrees"). The witnesses to this assignment were Richard Griffith, generosus, and Edmund ap Llywelyn ap Rees |
