TeitlCopy of the last will of Jane Sachaverell of Liverpool, widow, aunt to John Hampton Jones of Trefollwyn and Henllys, great-aunt of John Hampton Hampton (Lewis). The trustees named are William Edwards and William Lloyd of Liverpool, the latter having married a niece of Jane Sacheverell. References to several children of William Lloyd, to her brother William Jones, and his son Hugh "a mariner who is now upon a voyage to sea".
DisgrifiadThere was a William Jones of Trefollwyn who was a prominent figure in the Methodist Movement in Anglesey about 1745-1749, on intimate terms with both Peter Williams and the two Wesleys, but whose name soon afterwards disappears from the story. Was he the same as this son of Trefollwyn who was merchant in Liverpool in 1779 (thirty years later), brother to Jane Sacheverell, XXX undoubted daughter of the house of Trefollwyn? If so, how is his name never mentioned in relation to the early Methodism of Merseyside? For more of William Jones the Methodist of Trefollwyn (and possibly the later Liverpool merchant), see Journal of C.M. Hist. Soc. passim, and R.T.Jenkins: Moravians in Wales, 42-43. Note. Two accounts have come to light (HEN/139, 140) straightening out money matters between William Jones of Trefollwyn and his brother John, one ranging from 1730 to 1739, the other from 1745 to 1749. Again one has to ask - is this W.J. the Methodist and/or W.J. the Liverpool merchant?
