More, Poole goes so far as to imply that this marriage with Jane David of Llanfaethlu was not exactly a matter of lofty sentiment, but of immediate economic necessity - "to repair his distressful circumstances", adds Poole, "he married as his second wife the daughter of a rich old Man".
