Description | Congratulates Ifor Williams on his election as member of the British Academy. He is still working at his study of the Anglo-British river-names. Does not think that Jackson is right in taking the "Lundein" of Nennius to be a borrowing of "Lunden". He has had to give up teaching since his assistant has denounced him to the Party. His assistant has become his successor. He has drawn up a list of the chronology of Old British sound-changes. Would like a copy of Thomas's book on Welsh River Names. They are all sorry that the "feitschrift" has been taken away from Pokorny.
Enclosed in letter of April 19 : List entitled "Old British Chronology". |
