TitleLetters from Kenneth Jackson, 2 Queen Edith House, Queen Edith's Way, Cambridge to Ifor Williams
DescriptionHe is all agog to see the Aneirin when it comes out. Is it going to revolutionise our ideas about the date of the intervocalic mutation etc ?
They had a grand holiday driving round Galloway.
Despite petition, he is afraid it's very unlikely that they will agree to it next year. He has half decided that he must go back to Classics. His edition of Cath Maighe Léna is almost ready. In June they are going off to France for a cycling tour, but it all depends on whether there is a war.
Would have liked to ask them all down since they are only 1 hour 10 minutes from London. Ifor Williams gives a fascinating account of the activity in the University of Wales. Is glad about Tom Parry's Dafydd and Ifor Williams's book on Aneirin and Llywarch and Urien. They were going on a cycling holiday in the Vosges but decided it is not wise with Europe in its present state.
Has had a pupil for the last two years, Miss Rachel Amos, who has been doing Mediaeval Welsh. She wants to spend her research studentship in Bangor. Would IW be willing. On the linguistic side she is not very strong etc.
Thanks for photograph etc. about Cath Laighe Léna. Ifor Williams must have had a good time in Ireland. Is glad about Ifor Williams's election as FBA. He wants to put in for the Glasgow job. He is bringing out his collection of Blasket tales in Irish shortly.
