Description | Will of Ralph Hughes of Llewerllyd, co. Flint, esq. Desires to be buried in the parish church of Disserth and make the following bequests: All his lands in Disserth and elsewhere in co. Flint to his son and heir Euble ughes according to the terms of the deeds executed between John Thelwall of Bathafarn Park and the said Ralph before and after the marriage of the said Eubule Hughes and Judith, daughter of the said John Thelwall. All lands in Rhyd to his wife Margaret in lieu of her jointure so long as she remains unmarried. Charges the residue of his lands in Disserth and elsewhere with the payment of £60 p.a. for 10 years after his death for the raising of portions for his younger children - to be paid in the following manner:
£40 to his son William Hughes to put hom into such service as his eldest brother and friends can procure him.
£50 to his son John Hughes to place him an apprentice in London or elsewhere.
£50 to his son Henry Hughes to place him an apprentice when he attains the age of 17.
The residue of the 10 years' rent charge over and above the male children's portion, amounting to £460, to be bequeathed as follows:
£100 each to his daughters Elizabeth and Margaret as soon as his executor can raise the sum out of the estate which he will leave him.
£100 to his daughter Emm when she reaches the age of 18.
Out of the remainder of the £600 amounting to £160 he bequeaths £100 to his daughter Elizabeth and the remaining £60 to his daughter Margaret.
Twenty shillings to his son-in-law Hugh Drihurst to buy him a ring. The like sum to his daughter Catherine Drihurst to buy her a ring.
One heiffer to his grandchild Mary Drihurst.
All his books, best clothes, silver buttons, "signet of gould" and his clock to his son Eubule Hughes. His pocket watch to his daughter-in-law, Judith Hughes.
Thirty shillings to his brother-in -law John Wynn to buy him a ring. Twenty shillings to his cousin Hugh Piers of Penbedw to buy him a ring. Appoints the said John Wynn and Hugh Piers overseers of his will.
