In her heyday the ‘La Marguette’ was the most popular excursion ship in the country completing trips on a weekly basis to cities such as Bologne and Calais. After her transfer to the Liverpool and North Wales steamship company in 1904 she was used for travel excursions between Llandudno and Menai Bridge until she was taken out of service in 1925.
The large house on the Anglesey shore on the left is the Bishop’s Palace at Glyn y Garth which was demolished in the 1960s to make way for a block of luxurious flats used by the rich and famous. The two cannons in the forefront of the Old College have long since been moved and the circular path surrounding them is now the building’s driveway and parking area.
