AdminHistorySuch an idea had for some time been mooted among the members of the Hon. Society of Cymmrodorion, but a new impetus was given by the broadcast address of W. Jenkyn Thomas on May 25, 1936 (LLOYD/68), and a more effective advance was made at the Cardiff National Eisteddfod of August, 1938, when Sir John was prevailed upon to give an address on the subject to the Cymmrodorion Section. Soon a Committee was formed, which found itself in the toils of severel refractory problems, notably whether the Dictionary was to be in Welsh or in English (see Dr W.J. Gruffydd's pleas for Welsh, LLOYD/68, 22). Professor R.T. Jenkins was made working editor, with Sir John consulting editor
