Disgrifiad | It appears that shortly before the marriage, J.N. informed his nehpew Robert Chambre Vaughan, that although he has told Edward Massey that he would give him (Vaughan) £800 a year, he did not intend to allow him more than £500 during the joint lives of himself and his wife so long as Vaughan's aunt, from whom he expected to derive an income, should live, and on her death, only £400 p.a. Vaughan and Ann Massey were married in August 1828 and from that time down to September, 1835 this arrangement between Nanney and Vaughan lasted and was considered as binding. The annuity never came into the trustees' hands but was paid direct by Nanney to Vaughan. After September 1838 Vaughan began to be dissatisfied with the arrangement and to claim more and a writ was ultimately issued i the names of the Trustees against Nanney to recover £2363, the difference between the sum paid and the £800 a year up to 11 September 1835 |
