TitleLetter from Ellis Anwyl to Humphrey Humphreys, Bishop of Bangor
DescriptionHas been hitherto detained in the country by the importunities of his parents and relations, but now designs to set out for Oxford with all convenient speed. Has begun to study Britich antiquities and desires his lordship's information in the following particulars.

1. Whether his lordship has seen or heard of any coins of the British Kings or Princes since the coming in of the Saxons.

2. Whether these MSS. are now in Wales
a. Davis's Morgania Annales and Descriptio Cambriae, mentioned by Vossius.
b. The History of the Britons of Cumberland.
c. Llyfr Twrog yn amser Cadfan frenin, mentioned by Dr. Davies under the word Tiboeth, and perused by Dr. Williams anno 1594;
d. Aneurin Gwawdrydd;
e. Taliesin;
f. Meddygon Myddfai.

3. What writings are understood by the names Mabonwy and Mabinogi?

Would think it the greatest happiness to be under his lordship's most immediate tuition, to be employed in the vineyard where he was born, that he might be under the influence of his piety as well as of his learning; and so makes bold to apply for the rectory of Llaniestyn which is now vacant.
