Description | Since the receipt of Lord Lambert's letter desiring the writer's double dilligence in securing the garrison at Conway, Ensign Spencer, formerly ensign to Colonel Carter and now Postmaster of Conway, by discoursing with a neighbouring inhabitant discovered something relating to the listing of some men designed for the outting of the bloody plot against the present Government into execution. William Stodart a Justice of the Peace was desired to take the depositions and examinations of such persons as were therein concerned and these are now enclosed (not included). Edward Williams, one of the persons examined is sent prisoner to the common goal of the county as conceived guilty of high treason. The other two have entered into recognizances for their appearance when required. Mr. Bayly, the man mentioned in the examinations is returned home amongst his neighbours; that he had so far engaged in this inhuman action, but upon what account so soon cleared is best known to His Highness. |
