TitleLetter from Sir John Carter to Lieutenant Thomas Kynaston at Conway
DescriptionAcknowledges the receipt by Cromwell of Kynaston's letter and the examinations of the persons suspected to be engaged with Bayly in the plot, and desires him to continue his investigations. The examinations say that Evan and Jeffries told John Evans that he had heard William Williams, Edward Williams and others in Isaf had promised to appear in arms under Bayly at an hour's warning. Let Kynaston take John Evans into custody and find out the bottom of those men's engagement to Bayly. Let him also send soldiers to fetch them into the Castle and keep them until further order; and send for Mr. Thomas Williams of Llanfaglan's man who Jeffries said was twice desired by Bayly to bear arms under him. Orders him to be very careful of the castle with the few men he has to prevent any surprises.
