Description | Understands from Major Swift that Kynaston suffered Captain Jones to come into his garrison and to search and take away arms which was in his (Jones's) house which was in the writer's garrison. The writer wonders that Kynaston allowed him to do this for he is sure he has no authority. Hears that both th garrison of Beaumaris and Holyhead are to be diabanded; those of Chester and Shrewsbury and several others are likewise to disband if they do, "to help raise the pay of some forces His Majesty raids here". As soon as the writer receives Kynaston's orders he will post down to clear all accounts with the men; in the interim let Kynaston keep them well together and if they continue longer than they are allowed for, the writer will pay their diet money out of his own purse. |
