Description | Hopes she will not be angry with him for not letting her know sooner of Dicky's arrival in London which was on Thursday last was sevenight. Mrs Lloyd and the writer have been searching Dicky's portmantle and find he's but sorrily set out and wants everything new. As for his shirts, there's not one whole one among them nor are they reallt fit to be put on. Mrs Lloyd says all of them won't make 4 shirts tolerable to be worn, so that it is really a shame he should be sent to school with such linen. All the schools in London break up for 3 weeks at Bartholomew Fair time and the writer thinks it is giving away 3 weeks pay for nothing to put him there before the holidays. Mrs Lloyd says she will keep him with her these holidays and will assist the writer in getting him rigged up a little before he is sent to thr writing school. He wants a new hat, a pair or two of stockings, shoes and several other little articles. He has written to his uncle to desire him to send some moeny for Dicky. Told his uncle that he [uncle] might write to some of the drovers who are already or vey soon will come to the fair to pay the writer some. Dicky has about 2 guineas and a half in his pocket but he says that's for pocket money and won't let the writer lay any of it out to that the writer gave the writing master a guinea entrance out of his own pocket. Dicky's writing master that is to be had a great many good qualities such as keeping his boarders very regular and going himself twice on Sundays and Holy days to Church and all his boarders with him, and makes the say their paryers night and morning |
