Teitl | Release by Hugh ap Rees ap David ap Howell of Pentraeth "in consideration of the entyer love and natural affection which I beare towards Owen Hughes my sonne as also for and in consideration of the some of one hundred pounds to me....payd...by the said Owen" of all his personal property, utensils, household stuff, horses, kine, oxen, sheep, &c. |
Disgrifiad | Hugh ap Rees appears in the Plas Gwyn pedigrees as brother of Ifan ap Rees ap David, an ancestor of William Jones in the main line. In the Pedigrees of J.E.G. (p.104) Hugh is said to have died at Pentraeth on 31 May, 1590, which is altogether impossible in the light of this document of 1595. Another difficulty remains - how could John ap Rees ap William be one of the witnesses (as he is), remembering that he is J. ap R. ap W. ap Ifan, and this Ifan is a brother of Hugh, unless Hugh was very old ( this is suggested by his signature), and J.ap R. very young ( of which there i s no proof seeing that he was already married twelve years before and at that date a person old enough to be very pertinacious of his rights). |
