AdminHistory | Morgan Hughes was a somewhat interesting personality- son of a Dean of Bangor, brother to two rectors, himself rector of Llanfachraeth in Anglesey, and a country squire in whose veins ran the blood of the old Gwaenfynydd and Porthamel families. He was great-grandfather to Hugh ap John Owen of Plas Ucha, Llanfaethlu, who married Jane, daughter of John ap Rees ap William of Plas Gwyn (Pedigrees, 38,111), which, no doubt, accounts for the presence of this document in the collection. The witnesses of the release are not without interest: Rees ap David ap Iolo [yollo]; Ieuan ap Griffith ap David; Rees ap Llywelyn ap Tudor; Griffith ap Robert ap Hoell; John Foxwist [of Caernarvon, no doubt- Pedigrees, 354] |
