Disgrifiad | The first lease was made by Dr. John Byrd (or Birde, see Browne Willis: Survey of Bangor, 99, 100), Lord Bishop of Bangor, by the consent and assent of the Dean and Chapter, to Thomas and Richard Edmund (6 June, 1541) , for 40 years at a yearly rent of 17/9; the first assignment of the lease was made on 20th. Oct., 1542, by Thomas and Richard Edmund to Roland Griffith for the rest and residue of the original term of the lease. This document, no doubt, found its way to the Plas Gwyn collection because of the marriage of Myfanwy, the aunt of William Jones the elder, with John Lloyd of Plas Llandegfan, a descendant of Jane, daughter of Morris Griffith. |
